Mental Health Support in Ards and North Down 

There are a number of organisations throughout Ards and North Down Borough Council that provide support to Veterans.  
Decorum NI
Decorum NI supports and empowers security forces who served during the Troubles in Northern Ireland and their families, meeting their complex physical, mental and social needs. 

They also offer activities such as creative writing and 
heritage trips.

Horses for People
Horses for People run assisted workshops for Veterans through the “Back to Grazing” programme. They support service personnel and Veterans of all ages, whether difficulties have arisen during time in the Armed Forces or many years later.

Ards Cricket Club
Ards Cricket Club was formed in 1944/5 and now plays at Londonderry Park, Portaferry Road, Newtownards.
Bangor Bulls Wheelchair Basketball Club
Bangor Bulls WBC improves the physical health and wellbeing of disabled people in the Ards and North Down Area through the sport of wheelchair basketball.

Bangor Cricket Club have 4 adult Weekend XI’s as well as a Midweek XI team, all of which play in league and cup competitions within the Northern Cricket Union of Ireland. They are open for new members, so if interested please get in touch.

Beechhill & Conlig Lower Reservoir Fisheries
Beechhill Fishery and Conlig Fisheries are mixed species fisheries. They are both located in Co Down and operated by the Charity NICCA.

Beyond the Battlefield
Beyond the Battlefield is a charity which looks after Veterans in Northern Ireland and Ireland. They offer a number of activities, including River Hunting with mine detectors and magnets as a low impact activity throughout rivers in Ireland where battles have taken place.

Donaghadee Cricket Club
 Donaghadee Cricket Club run 2 men's teams; the 1st XI play in NCU Section 3 and the 2nd XI play in NCU Junior League 5. Practice is every Tuesday evening at 18:30 at their home ground Northfield. Cricketers from all ages and abilities are welcome.

Ross Jord Fishery
Ross Jord Fishery is an 8.6 acre reservoir in North Down. They offer bait fishing for organised disabled groups and children under the age of 14. They also offer boat and bank fishing, and teach 
fly fishing for free.
