Happy 100th birthday to Navy Veteran Tommy McFarland

January 18, 2021

All of us at the Northern Ireland Veterans' Support Office would like to send a very happy birthday to navy veteran Tommy McFarland who turned 100 years young yesterday.

Taken in RBL Omagh, Tommy (left), younger brother Bob (middle) and elder brother Willie (right) are all veterans themselves.

Tommy served on mindsweeping duties in the Royal Navy and took part in the Arctic and Atlantic Convoys

Tommy is from a family of veterans. Brother Willie was a regular before the war – he was Seamans Branch. Dunkirk, Atlantic convoys and D-Day.

Younger brother Bob was a sick bay tiffy – served in Med. Malta, Salerno, Anzio and D-Day. All in a day’s work for the McFarlands!!!!

Tommy junior was in the Royal Marines and both his sons are ex-army. We would like to send a very happy 100th to Tommy and thank you for all your service!
