PETT Project publishes PTSD Treatment Trial Newsletter

October 28, 2021
Researchers from the PETT Project have published a newsletter which details their candidate recruitment process and participation for their study so far.

The PETT study is a pilot PTSD experimental treatment trial comparing two talking therapies for Veterans: Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM) and Trauma-Focussed CBT (TFCBT). Members of the PETT Project are researchers from Queen's University Belfast, King's College London and the mental health service providers, Inspire.

The recruitment phase of the PETT Study closed on the 30th of June, and had over 400 expressions of interest from potential participants in the study. From there, 150 people completed a questionnaire and 113 went on to answer a follow up baseline questionnaire. Clinical psychologists advised on further eligibility for participants in the study, and 60 people met the criteria for clinical trial and were randomised into treatment courses.

You can read more about this, and the next steps, in the PETT Project newsletter.

Data collection will be finalised in mid-December, with data analysis due to take place in January 2022. A report will be published with the findings of the study in June 2022.
