The NI Veterans' Support Office recently enjoyed a visit to the War Years Remembered Museum in Ballyclare.
The museum is not just about military items but tells the human story of life on the home front as well as the triumphs of many individuals who served and lived during the war years. Adapted to be covid-secure, the museum offers a fantastic collection and great look at history and is a must see for anyone with an interest in the Great War & World War 2.
The War Years Remembered Museum features exhibits including life in the trenches for soldiers, the life of ordinary citizens, Air Wardens and Home Guard Soldiers whilst also offering insight on the local history behind the UVF's War Effort and the Easter Rising in Dublin during the World War I & II period. The museum displays uniforms, weaponry, vehicles, turrets, memorabilia and treasures and is most certainly worth a visit!
